Over 25 years ago, a friend of mine died. As the coffin was being carried out of the church, ‘The Final Countdown’ sounded. Since then, that song has forever belonged to that friend for me. Music and funerals are inseparable.
That is why it was a great honour when Brenda Siebrand-Koper asked me to make a keynote tailored to the occasion of Siebrand Uitvaartbegeleiding‘s 25th anniversary. In it, I made the link between music and the work of funeral directors. It was a great afternoon that contained emotion, but certainly also laughter. Just like a good funeral!
All this in perhaps the most beautiful theatre in the country, the Stadsgehoorzaal Kampen. The entire programme was produced by Lein Roelofsen.
